Ukraine Energy Security Expert Hub (Phase II)
The project aims to strengthen the capacity of the Government of Ukraine to develop and implement the energy security policy, which is one of the top governmental priorities. The Project will focus on the provision of the technical, expert assistance as well as advisory services to the Government of Ukraine to develop and subsequently implement a decisive action plan to strengthen energy security (ES), provide more linear impact on the ES policy implementation, and further facilitate Ukraine’s acquis process to the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement as related to the EU development agenda and requirements in the area of energy security.
The project contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals, namely Goal 7 “Affordable and Clean Energy”, Goal 9 “Industry, Innovation and infrastructure” and Goal 13 “Climate Action”.
The Project seeks to enhance the competence of the Government in the energy security policy area through the provision of targeted support to the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine in development of the Action Plan for the Energy Strategy 2035 (ES 2035) as well as help design a coherent policy environment to ensure energy security under the framework of ES 2035.
· Energy Security Expert Hub (Task Force) to provide the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine with the strategic advice on how to increase the ES level is created;
· support and expertise to develop and implement the Action Plan for ES 2035 is provided;
· current and draft legislation/regulations to develop a coherent policy environment to ensure energy security under the framework of ES 2035 are reviewed;
· high-level political dialogues between ministers on the issues of ensuring the ES in the Energy Community’s region is established and supported.
