  • SDG quest introduces the Donbas youth to sustainable development concept Sep 8, 2017

    In July and August, UNDP in Ukraine and UN Volunteers in Ukraine, in partnership with a local NGO in Donetsk region, organised a series of quests themed around Sustainable Development Goals. Some 800 children and youth staying in the summer camps located in Sviatohirsk, Donetsk oblast, participated in the quests.

    Ukraine has made a bold move to phase out paper declaration forms in favour for an electronic system making officials’ declared gains open to public scrutiny. Anti-corruption civic activists have stepped these efforts up, helping to launch the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), creating online tools for analyzing declarations, monitoring lifestyle of senior officials, and conducting training on e-declaration.

    UNDP Ukraine has started medicines procurement for the funds of 2017. Tenders were announced for 11 from 15 programs, which are currently entrusted to the organization.

  • Repaired bridge to improve logistics in Luhansk Oblast Aug 16, 2017

    A motor road overpass in Luhansk region was repaired by UNDP with financial support from the government of Japan. The overpass is an important transport and logistical artery connecting the three largest cities in the government-controlled part of Luhansk Oblast: Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, and Rubizhne.

  • Civic education is a must to make youth voices heard Aug 10, 2017

    UNDP in Ukraine, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the State Institute of Family and Youth Policies, held a strategic session on elaborating programs on civic education for youth. 38 participants from all over Ukraine discussed the concept and format of the future specialized training course on civic education for youth workers.

  • New human rights course developed for Ukrainian judges Aug 3, 2017

    UNDP supported the development of a tailor-made course for judges focused on respect of human rights in criminal proceedings. It was introduced at the National School of Judges of Ukraine in July 2017. It’s expected that this new tool could contribute to efficient human rights protection and decrease of cases of illegal detention and torture.

  • UNDP launches video contest dedicated to entrepreneurs from eastern Ukraine Aug 1, 2017

    UNDP, in partnership with the Molodyia social media festival, has launched a new video contest to encourage internally displaced people and local residents in government-controlled areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions to take the initiative and start a business of their own.

  • Forum attendees map out new development strategy for Luhansk Oblast Jul 28, 2017

    Officials from local and central government, development experts, education professionals and representatives from UN agencies gathered on July 28 at the Luhansk Regional Development Strategy Forum in Kyiv to chart a new course of development for Luhansk Oblast, using best international practice and expertise. An updated strategy for the economic and social development of Luhansk Oblast until 2020 was presented at the forum.

  • UNDP sets up yoga classes for people with disabilities in Kramatorsk Jul 28, 2017

    UNDP Ukraine, in partnership with UN Volunteers, hosted a yoga class for 40 people with disabilities and special needs at the Interregional Center of Professional Rehabilitation for People with Disabilities in Kramatorsk.
