The Civil Society Development Forum is a unique national platform for discussion of key standards and practices for civil society organizational development. It promotes a capacity development culture among Ukrainian CSOs. The first Forum took place in 2012, and by 2017 it welcomed more than 1,700 participants. During the 6th Civil Society Development Forum, UNDP held debates and thematic master-classes. Opportunities to influence decision-making in Ukraine were discussed by human rights activists, civil society experts, representatives of the Government and Presidential Administration at the UNDP-facilitated session on "Freedom of Civil Society: A Step Forward or Backwards".
Changing journalism education: human rights as values foundation

Three out of four people in Ukraine say they find this information on TV, and 57% of respondents also acknowledged that TV shapes their view on human rights. Such a dependence on media points to the importance of boosting the understanding of human rights based approaches among media professionals. On 10 November 2017, heads of all Ukrainian journalism institutions of higher education, the Ombudsperson, and human rights activists gathered at the thematic meeting of the Scientific and Methodological Commission on Journalism and Information to discuss the ways and strategies to lead-up human rights in journalism.

Tracing medicine distribution: NGOs start collecting information on medicine delivery

In the last two and a half years, international procurement of medicines allowed Ukraine to save hundreds of millions Hryvnia, later used to purchase more medicines and ensure treatment to a larger number of patients. But once purchased, how are medicines distributed from the warehouse to different regions? Which public hospitals do they reach, and are the quantities planned efficiently? The Ministry of Health of Ukraine uses information provided by authorities in the regions to decide on the volume of medicine orders and their distribution to the regional level.
Youth learnt innovative practices of democratization and advocating for human rights in Zakarpattia and Chernihiv

Young people from different regions of Ukraine learned to apply innovative approaches to carrying out local initiatives during intense study visits to Zakarpattia and to Chernihiv, held this weekend. While in Zakarpattia, youth learnt best practices of democratization, and participants of the study visit to Chrnihiv gained a unique insight into the core problematic human rights issues in Ukraine.
More than 70% of medicines bought directly from suppliers - analytics of UNDP medicines procurement

The United Nations Development Programme has analyzed the procurement it conducted with the funds of 2016 state budget. According to the results, share of medicines bought directly from manufacturers comprised 71%, in contrast to 90% of the Ministry of Health tenders won by distributors in 2014 and earlier years - before the international procurement of medicines was introduced.
After repairs to main building, children of Pokrovsk orphanage prepare for grand opening

The orphanage in Pokrovsk was built in 1944 and required repairs and improvements to its energy efficiency. In April 2017, the UNDP, with financial support from the government of Japan, started renovation work. Now that the works are completed, the centre can house up to 40 children.
U-Inn: the youth innovation factory for democracy and human rights

100 youth from across Ukraine participated in U-Inn camp where they showed innovative solutions to solving local community issues, and promoting participation and human rights. They also took part in training in project management, project implementation, and worked with experts to help them develop their ideas.
