New HIV evaluation system launched in OdessaSep 23, 2013
UNDP has launched a new system for evaluation of the HIV services and patients' rights fulfillment in the city of Odessa at the Odessa City Council on the September 23rd, 2013.
Deputies of the Odessa City Council, health care professionals, social workers, HIV-service NGOs and media representatives attended the presentation of the internet-based system for evaluation of the HIV services and patients’ rights fulfillment created within the UNDP project "Strengthening National Capacity for Effective HIV Response". This event took place at the Cinema Hall of the Odessa City Council.
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) together with the Odessa City Council work on implementation of the pilot project "HIV in the metropolitan areas”, the major aim of which is the user-driven assessment of the services in the sphere of HIV and fulfillment of the patients' rights. For this purpose, a web-based feedback mechanism between the consumers of the HIV services and their providers has been created and presented to the wide circle of stakeholders in the city of Odessa.
Among the main project partners of the project are the following: Odessa City
Council, Department of Public Health, City Centre for Prevention and Control of
AIDS and City Center of Social Services for Family, Children and Youth. There
are a large number of medical and social institutions, NGOs that provide free
services for the prevention, treatment care and support to the HIV/AIDS patients
in Odessa. The created web site will inform Odessa inhabitants concerning the list
of items and services provided by them, in particular, by such organizations as
an association of the Odessa region NGOs "Together for Life", NGOs
"For the future without AIDS", "Faith , Hope, Love",
"The Way Home", "Partner" ,"Rainbow",
"Bavarian House Odessa", "Caritas Odessa", "Era of
Mercy" "Sun Circle", "Life +", "Youth development
Center", "Health, Woman, Longevity”, "Caritas UGCC" and
Patients and other users of HIV-services after visiting these institutions and organizations can visit the developed web site http://hiv-service.od.ua/and leave their comments and make suggestions as to the the quality of the received services criteria and other related issues. As a result, their feedback will help to improve the quality of health and social services for HIV/ AIDS, optimize and bring them into line with the best international standards; as well as to improve transparency and accountability in the work of local health care, social institutions and communities, thus creating confidence in the authorities, improve their partnerships with the community based organizations.
