12 Dec 2012

United Nations in Ukraine and United Nations Development Programme in Ukraine have announced the 15 winning video entries to the “Road to the Future” video contest organized from June to November 2012. The contest was held to draw public`s attention to and enhance the understanding of the concept of sustainable development and its application to everyday life, including its role in shaping a better future for all.

In total nearly 70 videos were sent to the contest presenting not only the phenomena that the participants would like to prevent from occuring in the future – environmental pollution, excessive consumption, depletion of natural resources, – but also portraying new innovative solutions to solve local and global problems with the help of green economy, extended civil society involvement, use of eco-friendly transport, green tourism and education, which are anticipated to become propellants for sustainable development.

During the ceremony, the United Nations in Ukraine announced the new initiative - the global public consultations on Post-2015 Development Agenda, the national part of which will take place in Ukraine until March 2013 in the form of various panel discussions and other consultations among expert groups, government officials, academics, students, and various other social and age groups with different backgrounds.
