UNDP helped to procure life-saving treatment for Hemophilia

30 March 2016, Kiev – UNDP has finalized the procurement process and signed contracts to supply medicines for patients with hemophilia A, B and von Willebrand disease with five different Ukrainian and international companies.. UNDP signed contracts for supply of 15 medicines for a total amount of USD 6.852.344. The first medicines are expected to reach Ukraine already in April.

Additionally, UNDP signed contracts with three companies to supply medicines for treatment for Orphan diseases for a total amount of USD 562.642.

“Thanks to competitive and transparent procedures Ukraine will get high quality medicines at the lowest international prices. Each hryvnia saved is an opportunity to buy more medicines for those who suffer from these diseases. In addition this emergency medicine procurement, UNDP in partnership with WHO and UNICEF, is supporting the country and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in its efforts to reform the public procurement system for medicines and vaccines in order to bring it in line with the highest international standards”, - said Janthomas Hiemstra, UNDP Country Director.
