Recovery and peacebuilding policy breakthroughAug 31, 2016
On 31 August, 2016 the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has adopted the concept of the State Target Programme on Recovery and Peacebuilding in eastern regions of Ukraine. The concept is an important step towards the development of a full-fledged national programme, which would help prioritize recovery and peacebuilding efforts in the conflict affected regions of the country.
The document is based on recommendations of the Recovery and Peacebuilding Assessment Report developed with the support of the European Union, the World Bank Group and the United Nations in 2015. The concept was finalized during an open and inclusive process of consultations initiated by the Ministry on Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons and supported by UNDP and other development partners.
UNDP along with other UN agencies are committed to continue addressing a wide range of humanitarian, recovery and development needs in Ukraine. UNDP's peacebuilding activities are aimed at reducing the risk of conflict escalation by strengthening national capacities at all levels for conflict management, and to lay the foundations for sustainable peace and development.
