Collaboration to include integration of the animated series on ecological issues for children and their parents

Kyiv, 7 December 2020 – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine and the PLUSPLUS TV channel have teamed up to promote environmental awareness among children and their parents, and sustainable lifestyle for all, via a series of animated videos on ecology and other educational products potentially.

The two sides will work together on the promotion of and education about environmentalism with the use of the animated series called ECO PLUSPLUS. The series has been developed by the PLUSPLUS TV channel’s team and is available online, as well as being broadcast on the TV channel.

UNDP Resident Representative in Ukraine Dafina Gercheva says she is excited about the partnership, and the ability to reach such an important audience with key messages about the environment.

“ECO PLUSPLUS is reaching young Ukrainians who will lead tomorrow’s commerce, industry and government,” Gercheva said. “Getting them to think about sustainability as children will help ensure they make good decisions in the future.”

Gercheva also said the new agreement between sides provides a framework for collaboration on the series, as well as a way to identify more areas in which UNDP and PLUSPLUS could cooperate in the future. According to the text of the Memorandum of Understanding both sides will work on the integration of the ECO PLUSPLUS’ subjects and storylines into a joint ecological campaign. The 1+1 Media Group, the owner of the PLUSPLUS TV channel, will provide informational support to promote the collaboration aimed at ecological education using its media resources. The term of cooperation between the sides is initially for two years, which can be extended by subsequent periods by mutual agreement, under the same terms and conditions.

Ivanna Nayda, General Producer of the niche channels at 1+1 media, says: “We are delighted to start collaboration with UNDP on raising environmental awareness. It has always been major for us, at the PLUSPLUS TV channel, to transform adult messages to an edutainment format to communicate with the child audience. This year our topic is ecology, and we are glad to know that the ECO PLUSPLUS animated series gained the interest of both the channel’s audience and the international non-governmental sector. I believe that our joint forces will ensure better eco-responsibility among children and their parents in Ukraine.”
